Default Quick Q: How well do 205/45/16s fit on 16x7.5 rims?

Saw some 16x7.5s on sale, was wondering how well the tires fit or should i get a diff size? I have a 4dr eg civic.
Thanks.

The proper 16" size tires for your car is 205/40-16, not 205/45.

Are you sure? People say that putting 45s on will make the overall diameter 3mm under stock, so wouldn't a profile of 40 make it worse?
Anyway, will the 205s be too narrow for the 16x7.5 rim ie: will the rim stick out and gutter easy?

Outer diameter:
175/70-13 (stock size on '92-95 Civic DX/LX Sedan): 22.65 inches
175/65-14 (stock size on '92-95 Civic EX Sedan): 22.96 inches
205/40-16: 22.46 inches
205/45-16: 23.26 inches

No, the 16x7.5 should be fine. Most 205s (both 205/40-16 and 205/45-16) are approved for rim widths of 7.0 to 8.0 inches. That means that 16x7.5 should be fine; the tire shouldn't appear like it bulges out (as it might at the low end of the approved range) and it should appear stretched onto the rim (as it might at the high end of the range).

Ok, thanks for that. I didn't know that the proper tires were actually 40s. I see so many people with 205/45/16s on egs so i assumed that was the proper size. Quite surprising.
