Aftermarket Ring Gear
I need a company that sells aftermarket ring gears that do not break. Any suggestions? Oh yea, a company that is willing to give me a sponsorship wouldn't hurt either.
Thanks!
Thanks!

What the hell?!?!?
Geez. Apparently YOU'RE THE IDIOT! I was just asking an innocent question... I'm using a stock ring gear and they keep breaking. I'm looking for an aftermarket one that does not break. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. I'm not asking for free stuff, it was out of jest that I even mentioned anything about a sponsorship. The only reason I said anything was that I know that the aftermarket ring gears are expensive and I probably wouldn't be able to afford it. So, back the F off!!!!
I thought Honda-tech was a place were I would be able to ask a simple question, but apparently people like YOU are here to put people down for no reason whatsoever! YOU are the one who cracks ME the F UP.

That's messed up what that guy said.......
What kind of oil are you using in your tranny??>....for it to keep breaking?
Anyhow...I was jocking "you" and "your car" at Battle of the Imports....props to you girl.....I don't know if you saw me...but I had the Blue CRX with the LDL Speed on the doors.
Let me see what I can find out about the ring gear.

Oil... first one we used Redline... then went to the Royal Purple Syncromax... broke three trannies already. </TD></TR></TABLE>
It would be wise to stay away from some of the Redline tranny fluids. I know a few racers including myself, that have used their tranny lubricants with pretty bad results. Third gear in my AM street car was ruined after only three passes with Redline MTL in my tranny. I used to use GM Syncromesh fluid all the time with no problems at all, and I will be using it again for sure. I know your race car has quite a bit more power than mine, but I bet if it doesn't work for me, you would have trouble with it too.
I do not know alot about the products that Royal Purple has. Have you broken many trannies while using their oil?

Thanks for the advice.
No problems with the Royal Purple so far. Pretty much the stock ring and pinion keep breaking because I'm not preloading. Looking for some aftermarket options so I can keep driving the way that I do.
**Trying to keep drivetrain happy**

how about instead of looking for expensive parts to put in the car to keep them from breaking you simply preload the car like 98% of the successful T4/SFWD racers do?
cause right now you are looking for a solution to ring gears cause you don't preload - so great you buy a $800 ring and pinion to fix that problem and then you realize cause you aren't preloading the car you are snapping axles, etc, etc
i know we run and many many other racers run oem honda ring gears in this class with (knock on wood) no problems at all
we broke one this entire season and it wasn't the parts fault - it was human error
...just my $.02

What would be the best way to preload, staging brakes or line lock.
Only thing is that I believe you cannot use the rear brakes like factory anymore with a staging brake, is that true.
I know line lock you still can use the rear brakes like factory, but need 1 line lock for each side.
E-brake just doesn't cut it.

use the staging brake, put the line lock inline to the rear brakes, T it off after the line lock and the lines run to each wheel.
staging brake-->line lock-->brake calipers
it probably be best to use a button on the steering wheel or on the top of the shifter to activate the line lock and 2 step. tie them both onto the same switch. just gotta remember how to use the staging brake/line lock so that you dont roll out.

I realize that I would save a lot more money if I just preloaded... but the truth is I just found out what that was a few days ago. *New driver.*
Thanks for the advice though. I'll keep practicing.

Wow, Are you serious about the Redline MTL? I've heard about lots of problems with honda guys using MTL. Just my opinion though, I feel that the MTL is just too thin of a lubricant to give the tranny gears the protection that they need. I could be wrong though, alot of you guys have much more experience than me.
Angie, listen to some of the veteran racers in here. If they are saying to pre-load, then I would start changing how you drive a bit and practice pre-loading your car. Pretty much all the higher horsepower cars I have seen are pre-loading, they are doing it for a good reason. Good luck

yeah def. preload..im still on a jdm gsr lsd and stock ring gear, along with stock axles and i havent broken one yet. David taught me about pre loading, and ever since its become habit, i dont race without it.
We're in the process of fixing the tranny right now. I'll work on the driving part. Who knew that preloading was the way to go? Apparently, everyone except me.
Thanks for your help guys. Let's see if I can get things together by the time Palmdale comes around (haha, I've got four days).
