Bump Stops in 5th gen
Do you have to use the bump stops on the factory shocks if you use H and R race springs. Does anyone run this setup, and what is a good strut to pair with these springs because my koni yellows blew out.
Bumpstop = cut in half like everybody else said
How did you blow out the Konis? Pothole? collision? Are they REALLY old?
Get em rebuilt. Koni yellows are probably the best shocks for the Prelude. The spring rates on the H&R race are ballpark 400lb front 300lb rear, which the Konis can handle no problem. But, you could still get an SPSS3 revalve if you want to, which is made to handle 600lbs to 1000lbs+ springs.
Just call up Koni and tell them what your suspension setup is and how you drive your car - they'll get you set up. Its about $125 per shock to get them rebuilt.
I guess another option is to buy a new set of Konis for $500 if you don't want custom valving but I'd just rebuild so you can get essentially new, customized shocks for the same price.
In my opinion, the only other good shock out there is Bilstein sport, which is at its limits with a 2" drop and 400lbs (out of the box - it can be revalved for $65 or you could order them beefed up from the factory).
Please don't go out and buy Tokicos or KYB AGX's and try to use those springs
forgot to add- if you bought the Konis new and have the receipt, you can get them rebuilt for only the cost of shipping
