help with adjusting valve clearnace
searched, nothing found. I got shims to measure it out. got the clearance info. How do I do it? how do i turn the crankshaft? never done it before any help would be great. 92 honda accord.
Get somekind of service manual. They have cheap ones at autozone. It's a pretty long process. Unless someone here has a link that lists everything. Oh, I think shims are a toyota thing. I don't think honda uses them.

Ok amigo here we go.......... first off do u have any tools?? if not u need to get some ,,assuming u do................make sure engine is cold.......
remove valve cover u will need a new gasket and i would replace the spark plug seals while u got it apart, .to turn the crankshaft u need a 19mm socket, long extension and a rachet, turn wheels to the left m there is an access hole in the spash shield that let u get access to crank nut ,,that is how u turn the crank to position cylinders,,,,,,if u look at the back sicde of the cam shaft pulley there are 2 notches u might have to clean pulley to see them,, when those notches line up with the top of the head u are at either # 1 or # 4 cylinder , when they are perpendicular ( 90 ) degree, u are at either # 2 or # 3 , feel the rocker arm whichever feels loose that is the cylinder u are at,,,,,,,,,if u turn the crank toward front of car the sequence will be ,,,1, 3, 4, 2, so lets assume u adjust # 2 first next up would be # 1 and so forth.. valve clearance is .010 for the intakes ( the rear ones ) and .012 exhaust ( frt ones.....u need feeler gauges ,, if u can get a set of go-no-go gauges they are a bit easier to use ,,to adjust the .010 u would use the gauge .009-.011 ,, to adjust .012 u would use the gauge .011-.013 ,,the gauge should slip free in the first stage but not go through the second stage ,,,,,,
once u got the cylinder that u are adjusting on top, use the feeler gauges and chk the clearance adjust accordingly,, loosen up the 10mm nut on the rocker arm, use a screwdriver and tighten or loosen the screw to get a proper setting..........
after adjusting it recheck it again sometimes when u tighten up the 10mm nut it will turn the screw and tighten the adjustment,,,,
I hope it helps and i did not confuse the hell out of you..,,,
