Default AEM intake q's on 89 CRX Si

Okay, I've been thinking about buying the AEM CAI for a while now. I've got an 89 CRX si with the stock motor w/172k on it, it still feels strong but seems to burn a bit of oil. Will this intake make a noticeable difference on my current setup? Also, if later on down the road I swap in a D-series VTEC engine or even a B16, will the intake still fit?

Oh and BTW I'm getting it for $179 out the door = Intake, shipping and taxes. Anyone got a better deal?

Thanks,

Alex

an intake on your car should make a somewhat noticebale difference. usually a h/e help, too as those 3 mods are the basic building blocks for motor mods.

i would think the intake should still fit if you went to a d series vtec motor. not sure about the b16.

$179 out the door isn't bad, but it isn't great. try check in the best buys forum for pricing info.

my AEM made a noticable gain on my D16 w/ header and exhaust.. it also swapped over to my b16, although the 2.5" piping is a tad small for my setup now, otherwise its a great buy

I used to have one of those. Noticed a slight gain around 4800rpm. I don't think its worth your time or money. Mine was $180 shipped also. I would just get a generic one if I just had to have one.

If you put a JDM B16A in your 89, You'll have to block off or add provisions for a ton of vacuum hoses. I suspect it's the same with other VTEC's too.

On my 89', I didn't have the money fora CAI. So, I removed all the stock piping until I had just the airbox. Then, I cut the hole going into the airbox into a large rectangle. It's ghetto fabuluos, but it helped
