Default SiR hoods

I have just put a GSR engine in my rex and was wondering if i could bolt on a SiR hood witout doing the front end conversion?? i see some pics of USDM CRX's with SiR hoods only and they look to fit good, I thought they may be different around the lights.

Anyone running just the hoods?

The only source I really tried was http://www.passwordjdm.com and at that time they were still in the making of the USDM SiR hood. It MIGHT be out by now. Best of luck to you.

They finally introduced them? Sweet.

Can't wait to do my conversion...

Just get yourself a CF hood and paint it...it's MEANT to be painted, anyway.

if you put an sir hood on a regular usdm front end there would be a gap because sir headlights are longer than usdm headlights. it would be better if you get a zc hood for the valve cover clearance

A few things:

- both VIS racing and Image Dynamics make the JDM 1990-91 Style front end hood for the the Usdm chassis in carbon fiber

- There is no "sir" style hood/front end, "ALL" JDM Civic's and CRX's came with that front including 1.5x base models. I know, i import cars from Japan

Here's a pic pic of a 1991 CRX "non" SIR

paint, in the most functional definition of the word, is a protective layer- not something to look at. cf doesn´t rust. if it is uv coated, it is not meant to be painted. your argument contradicts itself.

Your miss-interprting ....that means that the front end people refer to as the "SIR" front end is not just from the SIR, it can come from the dual carbed base model 1.5X, the 1.6L dohc zc, or the SIR from Japan during the years of 1990 and 1991.

I'm simply saying that All models had that front end, it wasn't just one model.

The ZC is completely different. I'm not sure what you are really talking about. Also, not ALL JDM civic/CRX's had the wrap around lights and bump up hood. EF4/6/7 didn't.

agreed. Yes you can paint CF but to say it is MEANT to be painted????? come on, it's all a matter of opinion. whether it is played out or not I still love CF hoods unpainted (UV coated of course) and probably always will, we all have our opinions and diff taste

Well, i just got online live with my auction company in Japan and performed a search......
1990 and 1991 EF2 1.5L, EF1 1.3L, EF7, EF8 and EF9 all have the newer style front ends.
There are a couple of exceptions which are not part of the hatchback line that had a regular front end which would be the EF4 sedan, and that more rare model wagon model, but those are not what i was refering to.

I have had a couple 1991 ZC crx clips ends come in complete with the newer front end, zc stickers on the underside of the hood and all.

Oh, and just to add to my original point, that front end doesn't come on "only" sir models. If you want to argue that "every" EF doesn't have the longer front end, then yes, you'd be correct.

Here's a pic of a 1990 CRX ZC front bumper/headlight set, very different from the older 88/89 one your thinking of that i have on one my cars.
