EP3 CTR : Aim headlights from inside cabin
What a neat option.
I noticed that the German CTR HID headlights had motors on them.
Ocelaris stopped by today and installed the switch to control them, so now I can aim the HID from inside the cabin.

Yes. I think the idea is to (1)be able to temporarily adjust the beams higher than normal to see farther down the road temporarily and (2)be able to adjust the beams to compensate for unusual loads in the car.

Probably, but I wouldn't want to get a 90% user rating or anything.

Thats awsome. I wish I had that option in my car, my darn headlights never shine far enough for me

Sure they do, even the non-HID headlights on German and European CTRs have motors to adjust the headlight level to a different position. The cars that come with HID donīt have this adjusting switch, though. The HIDs are adjusted automatically.
Only the non-HID CTR versions have the switch installed for manual adjustment.

That's weird, because when you buy the HID units they come with the motors already installed on the housings and there seem to be four settings.
Are you sure?

I am sure.
HID lights have to meet the following requirements in Germany:
- automatic adjustment
- headlight washer system, thatīs why the 04 CTRs have slightly different front bumpers as the washers are integrated
You can see the difference to a "normal" CTR bumper on this pic:

Interior shot (as you can see thereīs no adjustment control switch)

Well, that explains why they ship w/the motors, if they have to automatically adjust.
Thanks very much for taking the time to put up the pictures...but you realise that now you have a bunch of USDM EP3 owners perpetrating a way to get their hands on the NAV system!

No problem.
The NAV system is a dealer option in Germany. The car on the pics belongs to my friend, he bought it in used condition and the previous owner had the NAV system installed.

I guess American Consumers are boring, we don't get all these cool options from our Dealerships.

On the projector cars, that adjustment control is on the left side, isn't it?
We were appalled when we first found out how much it cost to get the HID option on the German CTR, but if they have to automatically adjust to vehicle load and ride height, then it's more understandable.

No, the adjustment control is on the right side in a LHD EP3.
I will post an interior shot of my 2003 CTR for you later when I get home from work.

I think you must be looking at the master switch for the cruise control. I know it's dumb, but US law mandates that there is a shut off switch for the cruise control.
We do have moonroofs, but the controls are on the ceiling, not the dash.

I'm just so envious that's all..
I'd give up my moon/sunroof anytime for a little taste of K20A2 and the HIDs, and all the other stuff that you guys get....
