less money
i was driving around today i ran into a 91 acura integra i dont know how many miles.
i was just wondering how much to ask for it.
it runs and its in good shape. no body damage that i can see.
if you have run into something like this how much did you get it for?

Having just sold a car, lowballing is the worst thing to do.
Even if someone comes back and offers more, I wouldn't sell to them. It just pissed me off so much that I wanted to knock their teeth out..

Not really. The Audi is the only one I'd keep, and you got it for book.
So, in conclusion, if you don't want to come off as an *******, offer what it's worth.

in all honesty not to hijack the thread but its not what you would keep its what the buyer (aka the person paying for it) wants. whats the problem with offering a price you would actually pay? you either
A. get what you want for the price you want to pay - no questions asked
or
B. forget about the deal as you may not want to spend as much as the seller is looking for.
One final thought. Book value means absolutely nothing.
A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If you are only willing to pay X dollars offer that amount.

But, when you try to sell a car that's worth something, you'll realize a valuable lesson...
When asking 15,000 for a WRX that's 3 years old, you'll get the guys offering 10k, and then you'll get the 18 year olds that only want to ride, and then offer you 9. Then, you'll get the old guys that tell you your car is a pile of ****, and they offer 8 because that's all trade-in is worth.
My favorite was the 17 year old kid that brought 14,000 in cash, and told me that he didn't like my tires, so he was only going to give "your broke *** 11 g's". I nearly killed him.
I'm just jaded against lowballers... I hate them with a passion. Not really your fault.

lol just a bunch of bad experiences i guess. the field is a little different when it gets to be 15gs. Anyways to the original buyer, offer what you want to pay if you get it congrats, if not youll find another
Vash,
I agree selling cars that are worth viable money is just a downright shitty experience everytime. Its funny the way people come with "gameplans". When I bought used cars I would offer a few hundred less then I was willing to pay and see where discussions went. I never had this planned out agenda of saying at least 5 things I don't like about the vehicle, playing as if I was pissed off for even driving out to look, but then following it up with a low ball offer to BUY THE CAR. Its funny because men of all ages seem to have this repitaur, this act they put on when buying vehicles. Just ******* be yourself and go with a calm head...you won't get screwed and you won't look like a jackass.
So I agree with you and on the same note also have to say I do think selling cars like the CRX although not a high value car is even worse.
I have contemplated selling my 91 CRX Si lately. The body and paint is nice with just the few usual small door dings, the interior is perfect, the car has no rust or damage. It has over 7,000.00 dollars worth of parts including a turbocharged b16 motor. I bought the car stock for 2,600 dollars 3 years ago because of the good shape it was in, ice cold ac, and low mileage.
If I try and sell this thing, I am going to get calls from teenagers, gang bangers, rednecks, street racers, etc...The normal people will be scarce. They will all want to test drive it which they will only be allowed as a passenger. They will then make asinine comments, make me feel bad they now know where I live, and proceed to offer me 3,000.00 for a near mint example of a crx, expecting to get 7,000.00 in parts for free.
This car is worth around 5,000.00 to the right buyer. The buyer exists. However, finding that buyer causes too much distress to even make the money earned worth while. That is why I am keeping my crx untill perhaps the right buyer finds me one day.
