Default Cable VSS/ Electronic VSS... will this one work?

Ok im wiring up a JDM gauge cluster and need an electronic speed sensor. I went to the local yard today and got one for a B series. The one of the left is the cable driven and the one of the right is the electronic one. Will the electronic vss just drop right in or do I need to do something else? It seems as if the gear on my new vss is bigger than the old cable driven one.
Any help appreciated...

The gear appears to be longer, but they seem to be the same width from the picture. I just put in a 99 si guage cluster in my hatch a couple weeks ago and I used a d-series vvs and everything worked.

B and D series VSS's are interchangable.

by the looks of it, I had the same one, and it worked fine in both my J1 and YS1 tranny.
