Default oil pressure sender on D16Z6

where on a D16z6 motor is the oil pressure sender? i just bought autometer gauges for my car and in the process of hooking them up, i realized i had no idea where the oil pressure sender was. another question is should i leave the stock sender on so my idiot light still works, or just use the one supplied by autometer. thanks in advance for any help

On the d16z6 the stock oil pressure sensor is on the back of the block right above the oil filter.

Is your oil pressure gauge mechanical or electric?

If it's electric, you will want to hang the AutoMeter sensor on your firewall and run a stainless steel line to the back of the block. If you hang that big sensor on the back of your block you run the risk of cracking your block from vibrations.

You don't need to keep your stock sensor hooked up if you don't want to, as long as you keep an eye on the AutoMeter you should be good to go.

ok, does the line run to the block directly? does it need to be threaded? or do i hook the line to the original sensor? im assuming this requires me to get underneath my car, yea?

You need to have the correct oil fitting that threads into the back of your block. If you don't get the correct thread pitch, then you could crack the block just by tightening the fitting.

Yes, you will have to take your oil filter off to get to the stock sensor. And yes, you will need to get under your car

Just for referrence.

Here's how I had mine setup on my d16z6.

This picture shows the oil distribution "T" that I had on my firewall. On the left, is the stock pressure sensor, on the right is the AutoMeter sensor.

Coming from the bottom left is a stainless line leading to the back of the block, and on the bottom right is the oil feed line for my turbo.

You don't have to do it like this if you don't have a turbo. But, if you have an electric gauge like I do, you will need to mount it on the firewall, not on the back of your block. Which means you need to get a firewall kit from somewhere.

I bought mine from Fast-Turbo.com, they are a sponsor on here
