I got a new hood for my 93 civic EG and I've attempted to reset it like 20 times but it always sticks up like almost an inch on the pasenger side. Has this happened to anyone in the past? how do I fix it!?

Is it an OEM hood or aftermarket? Was the car in a collision?

Aftermarket and I got in a slight accident yes. I might have pushed the core up a little.

CF hood? Fiberglass? How bad was the accident? Do you see any noticable damage?

CF, and Nothing too noticable.

My guess is that it's a combination of the CF hood's poor fit and whatever damage was done in the collision. What area of the hood is "sticking up" on the passenger side? Photos would also be helpful, though it sounds as if you're going to have difficulty getting it to fit correctly by doing only minor adjusting.

 

Mine hatch does it.... my buddies hatch does it...
Maybe it's just a way of life....??
Where were you hit?

 

Its up front near the headlight. I actually lost a wheel when I hit a median taking a corner to fast and the car slammed onto the ground... Ouch....

 

My hood does the same thing.. I don't really care.

Yeah but Im afraid of when it rains, water getting into my intake.

I have my hood propped up in the rear, just to offset the poor fitment.

That might not be a bad idea.... but like I said about water getting in... bump

 

mine is the same way.
I adjusted the stops and the latch to get it down as much as possible and live with it.
unless it's up an inch or more it will not cause a problem.
heck mine was up enough on one side that it looked like it was open to a lot of people(bent hood from previous owner) I ran it that way for almost two years and it didn't cause problems.

 

ok well about the water situation. first of all what intake do u have. by the sounds of your concerns u have a stock or short ram. well my solution would be to go to your local home depot or place like that and but some kinda plastic or get some old sheet metal basically anything to cover the top of your intake and make it curved so the water rolls away. i did this when i had my focus. i had a functional ram air hood and short ram intake right to the hood scoop. water got in and messed up the MAF but after a lil trip to home depot and a lil work i was fine. no problems till i hit a curb turning at 45. ha

 

in order for you to get enough water under the hood and go in your intake is to either driving through a river, or hit a big puddle just precisely right. highly unlikely IMO. i have mine set high in the rear near the winshield, but i like the way it looks and what function i believe to get out of it. as for sitting higher on that side... mine did, but i adjusted it. might be b/c of the minor accident or the aftermarket hood. aftermarket never fits the same as OEM unless modified, which varies in the amount of modification, or adjustment needed.

as for the water issue, i serious doubt you will have a problem with it, but you seem to be a little like me, and get a little paranoid sometimes, if so, then do like said above and make some sort of cover just to make sure.
