attemping to get 11:1 crvtec with b20z pistons (question for engine builders)
Here is what I'm wondering about. I'm currently building a b20vtec for an allmotor application and want to use b20z pistons because I'm not a fan of using forged pistons on an allmotor street application. The setup I will be running is as follows:
1. gsr head with a clean up shave (nothing extensive, maybe a couple thousands)
2. omnipower flat top valves for increased compression (4/10's if i'm not mistaken)
3. b20b block
4. b20z pistons
5. buddyclub spec III+ cams (long duration / lower lift for valve clearance)
My main question here is, how deep can/should I cutt the valve reliefs on the b20z pistons if I deck the block .03"??? I'd like the pistons to sit flush with the deck or maybe only .01" in the deck to increase the compression. Will I run into valve clearance problems? i figured since i'm going to deck the block .03" then i should at the very least deepen the valve reliefs that much. I would also be drawing them back about . 015" to keep the valve from hitting the end of the pocket. I plan on widening the chamber of the head as well to match the 84mm bore and also to get more room for air to get around the valve. If any of the information I've posted is inaccurate please enlighten me, I'm still learning. please only post if you have first hand experience with engine building...I'd like to keep the "he said, she said" B.S. to a minimum. If I could get advise from any of the well known engine builders such as "omniman" or "rocket" that would be greatly appreciated.
thanks guys
