Bought a beater - Someone tell me something about it, search blows.
Just picked up a 1990 Accord EX 4-dr for $950-
Body is great, few rust spots.
Car seems to run fine, needs exhaust.
It has 148k miles and probably is in need of a tune up, what do you suggest be done to it? It's got a new clutch, tires, and brakes
I'm thinking:
plugs, distributor, wires, oil change, coolant flush... anything else?
Also need some links to fix up some interior stuff like the door handles. The cruise and power moonroof don't function either.
Help me out, I'm a VW dude and normally work on them with efficiency, Honda's I know little about. What engine code is my car?

Interference engine; if timing slips, it can be real bad.
How about fresh brake fluid...

NGK plugs, NGK or Honda plug wires. I've used Bosch plugs, but lots of other people have had problems with them.

The cruise and sunroof might just be a bad dashboard switch....I have a '92 EX with bad dash lights....which turned out to be just a bad dimmer switch.
I'd suggest checking fuses and if those are good maybe, if you can, pull the switch and do a continuity test.

Checked all the fuses and they were all good. What next? Engine wise I did a valve cover gasket, plugs, plug wires, airfilter, oil change yesterday and it's running but I noticed when I pulled the plug all the way to the left out, it was covered in oil! I think because the valve cover gasket was so bad oil was leaking down into where the plug sits? Anyhow, the plugs looked ok but I changed them out anyways. Fired the car back up and blue smoke is now coming out indidicating some oil burn. I'm assuming that it is just burning off any excess oil that was left behind???
Here's a funny one, I got in the car last night, put the ebrake down started it and everytime the clutch was engaged in or before i put her into first it would make a load whine (eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) and then stop. tranny seemed fine. then as I would shift 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc... i would hear a click from the fuse box kinda like when a fuse blows? Any ideas? Problem went away by itself.
