Default new to pre 92

so i looked at an 89 Si earlier this evening. the body was fairly clean, the interior was a bit busted, and it was quite a bit jerky. i would be able to pick it up for about a grand but the thing is there's no power steering, do they make kits for power steering, is it worth it if they do? and anothe rquick question, i did reasearch on here, and for specs on the ZC motor, it said 129hp and like 113tq, the guys at the shop i go to said the hp was 135, with higher TQ numbers for a DOHC ZC, is that the same as just a ZC, or can anyone clear this up for me.

thanks, sorry for being such a nooblette.

Power steering is for girls. You don't want everyone to call you a girl, do you?

The SI came with variable ratio power steering, the average of the ratio being around 4.0, slightly worse than the HF. The only real PS solution is the 3.6 ratio Sedan rack, which from what I know requires the sedan rear crossmember too (or a lot of tweaking on your part).

As for the ZC power numbers...there's so many ZC's, its really hard to say. There's also the fact that most ZC's are ~13+ years old, albeit with less than the USA's average 11k miles/year put on them. Meaning...around 100 to the wheels, give or take - regardless. There's carb'd ZC's with diff cam profiles, SOHC VTEC (like z6/y8/d15b motors), DOHC non-VTEC motors, Rovor-used DOHC ZC's, and more. Lots of variations, enough to hate Honda for using a single 'ZC' designation for so many variants. All you really need to know is if the compression/leakdown numbers are good, and...that it's a D-series at heart.
