Then u are a fool. I've had 2 zcs and now a z6 and love it. Runs allot better, and allot more aftermarket support. Each of my ZCs lasted less than a Summer, I have a year and a half on my Z6 now. They are all surpassed by the mighty B though. In any event these threads are ridiculous I see at least 1 a week, please search people.

I've been doing this stuff for 8 years now. Every experience I have ever had with a ZC has been bad, they blow up relativly easy, in almost all cases. I've killed 2 myself, then I went b-series, and before I put it in I rebuilt it. I just don't trust used motors from Japan and reccomend a full going over before you install it. With that being said you are better off finding something low miles in a junkyard and pulling it. Both of my zc were supposed to be under 30k on them, well why did they only last a summer? Futher more my Z6 had 80k on it when I pulled it, and it runs like a top every single day. I just don't trust imported motors, IMO they are good cores, and should be built.

It took me a little more than $1000 to swap in my ZC, for EVERYTHING. I would have gone z6 if I could have found one though. Btw my ZC has been running strong for 7 months now.

first of all you need to convert to mpfi.....if you are going to do a mini-me do it then......I have an a6/z6 mini-me and I like it....it is pretty peppy but I am replacing it with my freshly rebuilt z6.....read up on it....and remember to convert to obd-1 because rpm switches = gayness.....

it depends on how good you are at wiring.... if you need help on that go to http://www.rywire.com

but can't you use a pr3 or pw0 ecu and run non-obd (obd-0) with a vtec head like the z6? and would a si dizzy from 88-91 bolt up to the head? and do you have to worry about oil pressure being in the right spot on a mini-me conversion?

If i was you, i would get a JDM D15b vtec engine. (Never heard of a B15b). It has 130hp, 5hp more because it has a more agressive cam. But other than that it is the same as the D16z6. It suppose to have a shorter final gear than the z6 but its the same. Plus i dont think the JDM D15b vtec tranny is any good because i already blew up two of them within 8months(I'm using a D16z6 tranny now).

I bought my JDM D15b vtec engine(without ECU) in Sac, Cali for $550. With ECU its $600. Comes with a 60day warranty. I dont know how much it would cost for the swap. What car are you swaping it in?

Yes(Refering to JDM D15b vtec). There is a couple things that u can't use from the dx for the JDM head. But like the intake manifold, timing belt, waterpump, etc... you can use from the dx.

yea i ment d15b not b15b

so for parts on the d15b could i just buy reg. 88 civic dx parts like headers cai and stuff like that or would i have to import parts from jap-land

and also could i mate the d15b to a Si tranny?

also witch would be easier to do cuz it would be the first engine i put into a car and i dont want a really hard engine to put on my first car

No would not have to buy stuff from JDM for that engine, just get it from the 92-95 civic here.
Well i think you have to change the tranny on the engine anyways because the tranny on the D15b vtec is hydrolic and urs is cable. So the easiest way is to swap the tranny, thats unless the tranny bolts match up. I don't know if they do or not.
Do NOT put ur 88 dx header on that engine. That's just dumb. That header is a peice of **** that you should throw away and the intake also. I think you will do more harm to the engine if you put that **** on that engine. Plus i dont think that **** will fit on the engine anyways.

I would rather spend $500 more and get a B18C1 engine then. Just as reliable and alot more speed.
