Accord late-93 ignition barrel- key stuck in lock.
Hi All, The keys to my ignition lock stopped working recently, they could be put in the lock and pulled out easily enough but really put up a fight when it came to turning them. However, the spare key that unlocks all the doors except the boot (a valet key?) worked fine. Anyway, I took the barrel out and had a look at it and all the mechanics of it seemed to work fine. But upon re-insertin g the barrel (with the key in at position 1) I am now unable to remove the key at all and am unable to turn it to position zero. To remove the key requires the lock to be pushed in and now this is not possible, there is no give when it comes to turning the key from position 1 to zero. Does anyone know why this is? it appears that something is physically stoppping it. I've tried disconnecting the ignition wiring from under the dash but to no avail. Any help much appreciated.

I had a similar problem with a chrysler sebring a few weeks ago.... ....we (at the body shop) could not figure it out... so we called a guy that works with locks..... ....there's definetely something wrong, as you said "physically" stopping it from turning.
Key gets stuck, won't turn and won't come out..... ...that sucks!

all fixed, I applied some force by pushing the key in and turning it to the zero position - there was a click and the key was released. There was no mention of this in the Haynes manual, and this method was a last ditch effort.
thanks for the reply.
