Does this axle seal look seated properly? [pic]

Default Does this axle seal look seated properly? [pic]

Ok got the new axle seal in and just want to make sure its seatec orrectly before i put everything back together.. It slid in real easy until this point and now it wont go in further (by hand). Does this look right?

Can't tell from that angle. But did you try tapping it with a light hammer , like a rubber mallet ? ( very lightly )

no that was the next step, i just wasnt sure cause people said dont push it too far, and this is as far in as i can get it to go by hand...

Try it. Just don't hit too hard. And watch closely. For movement.

ok basically the gasket has 2 lips, inner(raised) and outer, is the outer lip supposed to be flush with the tranny?

I simply insert the axle to press the seal in the rest of the way.

when i did my axle seal i just used the 32 mm socket for the axle nut and tapped it gently with a hammer.. it slides in very easy it went in too far for me twice until i had it right

ok well i just inserted the axle (with dust cover) and hopefully that pushed it in to wherever it needs to be..

The outer rim (rubber covered metal) should be flush with the transmission case. Use a brass drift to knock it in. work around the seal edge pushing the seal in small amounts each time till it fully seats flush with the case. Do not use the axle as it will not fully seat the seal, causing the outer lips to wear out prematurely.
