Blown oil seal (?) 93 Prelude S series....Help
My husbands '93 Prelude finally blew an oil seal on the drivers side...and lots of oil is coming from the area. I've attempted to look on-line for a diagram or something...so he can attempt to tackle the repair himself. We do not own any manuals, and they may be hard to find at the library.
Can anyone help with a PDF of this area via email (a shot from your Honda fix-it guide book), so he can attempt the repair? What else could it be if not oil seal? Car spews oil when turned on.
Car starts, no white smoke (not engine gasket). Car has 200,002 thousand original miles by original owner...PLUS...ORIGINAL CLUTCH and we believe ORIGINAL FRONT BRAKES. We think we got an "X-Files" Honda...no engine work on this car. Please help us out so my husband can begin repairs this weekend. We live in San Jose, CA.

balance shaft seal buy a new seal + the seal retainer from honda must remove valve cover upper timing cover lower timing cover driver side tire also the crank pulley then line up everything the timing marks on the crank pulley camshafts and balance shaft the balane shaft mark if you look at it head on goes straight as 180 degree line on the left side of pulley there will be webbing on the block u line the line up with then take the bolt off behind the rear balance shaft (right side looking at it head on)and put a 6x100mm bolt in tehre and lock it in place or use a rod u will feel the hole in the balnace shaft it should go about 3 inches in the hole ( bolts on back of block just above the cv joint. remove the balance belt remove the pulley replace the seal 8.97$ seal retainer 2$ push the seal in as far as you can then use a pry bar and a socket a little bigger than the seal and pry flush with the block remove the bolt holding the oil dipstick in place wiggles the dip out take out the bolt the seal retainer tells u to put retainer on replace dip gasket put back on and make sure everythings lined up put balance belt back on take rod or bolt out replace with bolt that was there then start putting her back together. OH yea you gotta loosen the acorn nut above the crank pulley youll see it to get the balnce shaft belt off. make sure u tigheten it when u get it back on. its quite a task. if ur really good you dont have to line anything up u just cant move anything either. so i recommend lining stuff up. I just did this bad part is the seal didnt wiggle out i broke a piston landing and 14.8lbs of boost shoved it out
but you also might be able to use the seal mine was still soft and excellent but its the oringinal motor 150k miles i replaced just because i can. which was totally useless.
