I know the CEL is the emmisions but I didnt think it would def come on while only installing an exhaust. Here is a link to the exhaust I have:

Its the Holley Airmass Thundermuff exhaust. Flame away if you must but I got the whole thing for 135 shipped so even if was a total piece of ****, it wasnt that big of a loss. Well I had a shop install it and its really throatty at lower levels ie: 1,000-4,000 and then once VTEC kicks in at 4400, rasp city. Also I do notice a exhaust smell coming from under the car. Could it be a cracked cat, header or the exhaust just didnt bolt up right? Any comments are welcomed

Well have you tried looking at the cat, and if you did what did you see?
If you smell somethings, its possible there is a leak somewhere.

ill prolly prop it up on some stands tonight. if there is a leak which im pretty sure of there is, will that cause that awful raspy sound?
Yea, when i had a raspy sound in my exhaust, it was because of a leak in the exhaust, so prop up the car, turn on the car and see if you can feel any exhaust leaks anywhere

DITTO.... the raspy noise is probably from the piping itself or leaks. I know when I removed my resonator, my exhaust got real raspy from 2-5k rpm.
