when my car first starts its as if the engine is about to die but after about a second it goes to normal and the RPMs go to normal level and it runs fine after that

the only other problem I have is sometimes the car wont start at all..the engine turns over but the car just wont start...after a few times of tryin to start it will start up...this only happens after i've been driving it then park for a short time then go to start it up again...no idea why

could this be related to the coil? i have an external coil (was like that when i bought the car) and it looks like there is a lot of corrosion on the coil and it hasnt been replaced ever...but the car runs fine and I dont get any high RPM stuttering or anything like that so I dont know if its the coil or not

the car doesnt have any other symptoms but that

so the you can hear the crank turn but nothing after that?
more info. sounds? engine movement?

yeah i can hear it turn over..but the engine never starts up.....i dont notice any wierd sounds...just sounds like a car that turns over but wont start up...and it ONLY does this after i've driven it awhile, get out, then get back in...it doesn't do it like say the first time starting the car that day..but only after i've driven in around awhile and get back in and try to start..then it turns but wont start...takes about 2 or 3 times trying to start it and then it starts right up like normal

 

try the coil and ignition switch all in the distributor.

 

umm another thing this may sound dumb...but are you low on gas??? when im on E my car takes a few cranks....but once i have gas it doesnt do that

that is true. but i hope he did check that. haha good suggestion. not to hate but it has happened.

i've got 1/2 a tank left...i'll replace the coil today and see if that helps...then i'll move on from there
