Sounds like the same problem with a guy I know. 95 EX auto, a day after I chipped his ecu, it did this. I believe that it was due to the o2 sensor code it was tossing (which the retard STILL hasn't changed!), it would drive fine and then not pass 4k (like a rev limiter). It would drive fine & rev past 4k while it was cold (as in bypassing o2 sensor till heated), then would drive crappy w/limiter and toss a code.

sounds like the ecu is in safe mode. Are you sure no codes have come up yet? I would double check. I had this problem and replaced the dizzy, after that it was all good.

definately safe mode. check the blinking LED on the ECU itself. fix the error, reset the ecu (pull underhood hazard fuse) and see what happens.

does he have launch control and no vss signal?

it probably is just in safe mode.. but it should be throwing a code if it is.

The fun part is when you have launch control and sometimes have VSS, so like we're just driving along minding our own business, when all the sudden the VSS ***** out on us and it felt like we ran into a brick wall the limiter came on so hard.

Thats definitely a possibility.
