WELDER BROKEN! Need Help On What Happened!
Ive got a Chicago Electric Mig-100 gasless welder, first time really welding something was tonight, making an engine hoist, seems easy enough until I ran out of spool and changed it.
Started running the new wire through the feeder and into the line towards the gun, line got stuck at the very end, I ttok off the end cap thing to pull off the tip, instead I dropped the gun and it landed on my piece of work material (machine was on and grounded)
ZAP!
Just a small spark but I seen it, came from behind where to power wire grommet is in my machine. The power stayed on but the line feeder no longer works, trigger pulls but nothing moves or makes a noise
I need some help as to what just fried or fuse just blew, I really dont wanan take something apart I cant put back together
Hope someone can help me as I want to make this hoist to get my motor in my car to get my car on teh road....... life
Thanks

I found the problem
Theres a fuse mounted on the front wall, pretty small glass one, popped, looks like smeone wrapped copper wire around it and stuck it back in, completely black
What size is it? I grabbed a few I had in the house and they blew instantly
Thanks

Then you haven't found the problem... it's not a "bad" fuse. The fuse is telling you there's a problem and it's not safe to run until you fix it. Take it back to where you bought it.

I bought it way out of town off ebay used. Worked fine for a whole spool of wire, I dropped the stick on my material and something sparked, I need to know how to fix it so I can finish making my stuff

You already got help - if you don't like the help, asking over and over isn't going to fix it. Taking it back to *any* Harbor Freight and asking *them* what to do is the solution.
Now either do that or buy another one - end of topic.

You might need to buy a multimeter and start tracing things around to find your problem. Without calling harborfreight you can't get the technical info on the welder to do repirs yourself, and I doubt many of us here know how your welder is exactly wired.
Did it come with an instruction manual? If not... we might need the exact model number off the back of the unit to search for one.
If there is an internal problem of that welder, short of being a excellent electronics repair guy, or returning it to HF will be the only ways to fix it. Even miller welders which millions of people have, aren't known inside and out to trace every fault that might come around.
