Default ATE super blue

i just recently changed to super blue , i know it needs a frequent bleed

what i'm asking is how frequent , i'm doing the car guys thing at summit and need to know whether i should plan on bleeding in between sessions ?

also how often does it need bled on the street ?

not exact numbers just a rough estimate , ie: once a week , once a month , every oil change , etc

thanks

I give it a bleed every few autocrosses - and before and after a track day. If you are experiencing fade, then i would bleed again then - that should be the only time you'll need to bleed between sessions on a street car. But always carry extra with you (and a silicon tube and bottle to retain used fluid) and your tools - because the first time that you dont will be the first time that you *really* need to bleed your brakes

For street .. every year or so. For track, just bleed out the old fluid from the calliper and it will be good for the weekend. Unless you fade, then you might want to pull some more fresh fluid into the calliper. With good pads, Hawk Blue, R4, etc, it will run like a champ the entire weekend.

I never flush mine either. I just run new fluid from the master into the callipers for every weekend. Then top off the master.

Do a search, there is a good couple of threads on this in here.

Good stuff, when you do a full flush, flush with ATE Type 200, its the same fluid, just gold color, that way you know when you flush all the blue stuff out.. Also, I do a full flush probably every 2-3 track events.. I have gone 5 months without a bleed, no problems.. I use carbotech pads as well..

Same here.

I run ATE super blue too, but I haven't found a good place to buy it on a regular basis. A source for the Type 200 would be nice too.

I bleed before and after every track event, duh. I usually have enough track events throughout the year that I dont need to bleed until the events. Can usually go 6 months until Id like the feel of a fresh pedal. I have yet to do a complete flush, dont exactly see the point to it other than getting the "wet" fluid completly out but I have no problems with fade still.

Haven't bleed my Super Blue since early December. 3 HPDE weekends, several pad swaps and brake pedal is still hard as a rock. I may bleed the system soon just for the heck of it.

I agree! With R4S, bled twice a day at VIR. With Carbotechs, did not bleed at all while there. Just before (ran about 3/4 of the bottle through). You don't need to bleed it as much as you would, say Motul or, gasp, Mega$$$$$$$$$ Castrol.
