Can I just have my rotors resurface without..
changing my brake pads? Here's my situation, I borrowed my sister's car for 2 weeks. I notice vibration in the steering wheel and brake pedal under braking. So I'm just wondering if I can just resurface the rotor without putting a new brake pads and see if that will help the problem.

If I replace pads and rotors I will probably spend $100 plus. I just spend $50 yesterday for oil change and tire rotation and balance. This is why I'm asking if I can just resurface the rotors.

if you are doing the work yourselft you can take the rotors down to autozone/pepboys and it is only $8 per rotor to grind them. New pads are only $20-30. If you have neve your done a brake job yourself it is not hard at all. And it will save you a lot of money

You know my fater in law says the same thing, but i figure pads are so cheap why not do new pads?

Yes, I'm on very tight budget right now, that's why I'm asking if I can just resurface the rotor. Like I said, the car is not mine, if I put some money on it (which I don't have) I'm not sure if I'm going to get it back. I just want a simple cheap solution.

i second that
. i do this **** for a living, replacing pads when resurfacing rotors is RECOMMENDED, not NECESSARY.
keep in mind that if rotors are warped enough (excessive runout) resurfacing them might not help, and therefore you have to dish out new rotors

it would be like changing your cam gears and not changing the timing belt..... POINTLESS!!! you can do it but youd be a Diptard if you didnt, plus youll hate yourself when you realize that you just did all that work and the shake comes back.

well, make her pay for it then!
Look at it this way, why does the pedal shake? Because the rotors are warped.
Why should you resurface the rotors? To make them nice and flat again.
But the old pads had worn down to the tune of the warped rotors. Worn pads on perfectly flat rotors will not give optimum braking efficiency. You need new (flat) pads to go with the newly-flattened rotors.
I understand you're on a tight budget, but I just bought new front pads for my Integra for $17 from AutoZone.... lifetime warranty too. A friend resurfaced the rotors for free, but it's pretty cheap to have them done.
Do it right the first time. You'll thank yourself later.
