I think any oil is good as long as it has the certification labels, is the right viscosity, and is changed every 3,000 miles. I'm sure the honda oil is good, I use castrol gtx myself.

 

You will get crazy answers if you don't include your year and model accord in your post. HINT: put it in your signature so you don't have to type it every time.

As for the weight, it'll say on your oil cap. My '99 I4 wants 5w30.

As for the brand, I use Castrol GTX.

 

what about me? some dude from CB7tuners told me i should use Royal Purple. i need some synthetic oil for her since shes at 160+ now. i planned to get that castrol synthetic highmileage whatever oil,but ever heard of Royal Purple? he said forget a blend,go for pure synthetic

yeah me too . the placement of the oil filter on a 5th gen is a bitch if you dont have a pit how about the 6th gen i am gessing its the same

 

it isn't too bad on a 6th (4cyl) My manual says 5w30, but I am running the alternate oil 10w30, b/c I live down south, where thinner startup viscositys aren't necesesary. Btw, I checked around, and I decided to run Mobil 1 Pure Synthetic, that combined with an above average oil filter, and I change every 6-8k miles. Oil is still pretty good in color, with no metal shavings on the magnetic drainplug.

 

I's use full synthetic too if ti didn't burn so damn much, i used royal purple once and nothing but smoke came out of my exhaust for weeks...i admit it does run smoother but now i just stick to castrol high mileage, and HAPPY HALLOWEEN i guess this is why this guys is looking for <U>witch</U> oil, trying to scare those little kids away i see hahaha....

I use castrol syntec.

Like one of the posts above states, if your car is burning oil or has a good oil leak already, don't switch to synthetic.

I've heard (and witnessed on some parts) that the cleaner oil will help clean your engine. It will blow past your rings even more (if the are already worn down enough) than regular dino oil and as for the leaks, most of the older dino oil will help clog the leaks (i've seen this with my own eyes). When you switch though, the cleaner synthetic oil will clean the hole and help it leak more. (Seen this also)

Lucky for me, my 200,000 mile engine doesn't smoke or have (too) many leaks.
