Default Racing flywheel weight ??

im sorry .before im going to far . is that true to post my kind question in this "Competition" forum . Or should i post my topics on "Tech" forum??

Lightening the flywheel For Drag Racing Use
1300 D13b fully mod. with 4 speeds close ratio gear for drag racing ,and also extreme light weight civic body (around 700kg) . anybody knows the best weight for my flywheel, it was 4.5 kg now, I plan more to reduce the custom alumunium flywheel weight (now it was around 4 kg) but there is must be the limit point with the weight to have the best results.
Tell me about the commonly or best flywheel weight for me

Regards

Default Re: flywheel weight ?? (jt-sport)

I would say as light as possible.

Is this car 100% race? Can you push start it, or start it off the crank pulley (does such a tool exist to start a car off the crank pulley?)

The idea is to get the flywheel as light as possible, AND get that mass as close to the center of rotation as possible. The ring gear for the starter is a big limiting factor, get rid of that and you only need enough flywheel to support the clutch. I don't know if there are any compact multi disk setups for Hondas, but you could theoretically get the whole thing down to about a 6 inch diameter assembly at the end of the crank...
