Default First time at the track, SOHC turbo times

I have had my car together since March and I figured I should take it to the track now (end of october ) It was pretty cold and I was in street trim. This was my first run down the track EVER.

My setup:

The Motor
d16y7 with 110k miles. Stock motor.
d16z6 intake manifold.
z6/y8 transmisson.
exedy stage 1 clutch.

The Turbo Kit
T3 Super 60.
RC 450cc injectors.
Homemade turbo manifold, external Tial wastegate.
chipped obd1 ecu tuned with CromePRO for 11psi.

I weighed in at 2400 with me in the car.
I was on my street tires (dunlop sp9000's) and I didn't drop the tire pressure.
My twostep was at 3800.
FIRST RUN (my third run was the same EXACT #'s)
R/T .497
60' 2.203
330 6.119
1/8 9.124
MPH 83.20
1000 11.697
1/4 13.87
MPH 103.09

I was pretty suprised when I got my timeslip. For my first time I didn't think I did too bad. I think I could have set my two-step higher and got a better 60 foot. Just thought I'd share.

EDIT:

Sounds good to me! Time to build the motor and turn up the boost.

Great time, and a decent 60' too.

Do you guys think I could pull more out of it? When I shifted into second I had nothing but spin. It was hard to get second to grab. I think I could knock a few tenths off as well. I think the cold weather was to blame as well for the lack of traction.

About building the motor:
I really want to do the Vitara piston setup. Looks like a really good way to make power.

Lower the tire pressure/dr's/slicks, and run in 70 degree weather and you'll be fine.

What do you mean they look like a good way to make power? Are they higher c/r? I hope not if you are going to boost higher.

I missed that you are running 11 pounds . I'm glad I swapped. Can't wait for the next one .

I'd build a replcement bottom end right now before this one gives.

The y7's don't do too badly with boost. It's the pesky y8's that suck ***. But this still wouldn't be a bad idea.

Awesome times, but I second (third? fourth?) the notion that you'll be wanting a new bottom end before too long if you continue to make passes like that. Nicely done .

No, they lower the compression ratio to about 8.5:1 if I'm not mistaken. They are forged too (I think). I plan on building a block over the winter.

11 pounds tuned isn't bad. Why are you glad your swapped? What times did you run in your car?

I have no worries with the block as of right now. The only reason I would build a block is to make more power. If I turned the boost up more I would be more worried, but at 11-12 pounds I feel safe at right now.

Great times! I'm in the process of turboing my 99 hatch with a y7/y8 mini me, but with a smaller turbo setup than your 60 trim.

The only reason I'm asking is because I was thinking of selling the turbo kit/motor for a swap. Someone has a LS they would be interested in trading straight up. I was debating between a LS/B16 in my hatch too.

11 lbs in a stock sohc!!! Won't be long before you blow the motor. But hey have fun blow the motor then rebuild.

Y8 manifold, gsr throttle body, and 2.5-3 inch exhaust will really do wonders. I havent taken mine to a darp strip but I should some day. Anyways after this summer I got the civic running scary fast.

Yeah, the stock TB is killing me.
I know the z6 intake manifold is a lot better than my stock y7 one. Got the z6 for 5 bucks
I'm running a 2.5 inch downpipe/exhaust too. Should have included that before

I have been on 10-11 psi for almost 2 months now. I religously beat the **** out of my car all day. I get great gas mileage and I haven't had anything break.

Before it was tuned, I ran a FMU/Missing link for 7 months and also beat the **** out of my car. (march-september) and haven't had anything go wrong. As of right now, I feel that this motor/turbo setup is unbreakable.

Let me know how you make out Civic Racer. I was thinking about getting a y8 head.

if you wanna change the setup, get a different manifold, swap in the ls and bolt back up the turbo kit.
