New CRX Project
Ok, I have been workin on a turbo awd dsm for a few years now and decided its time for something different. So I bought myself an 88 crx(light weight unlike dsm) so now its time I begin make'n it into a drag car. It currently has a D16Y7 motor in it and I want to get 13.00 or lower at the strip in this car. My options as I see it are turbo the current motor or swap in a B16A2 The swap is far more appealing to me. Now my question is if I put this motor in mate it to quality exhaust, cold air intake, ignition, etc. how fast should I expect to run? if you have any suggestions on this motor or on a turbo setup on the current motor let me know. I rather keep it NA if possible and still run a respectable 1/4 mile time. 13.00 or lower is what I want help me reach it plz.
i believe the d16y7 engine was 106hp stock, so to get past the 13's your looking at more than 14psi boost. personally i wouldnt want to run that much without building the engine atleast a little bit. the b16a is capable of mid to high 14s with simple bolt ons (depending on the driver) so you will still have to add some kind of forced induction or do a n/a build. getting any front wheel drive car lower than 13 seconds is going to be hard and really cant be done w/ a 1.6L by adding just bolt ons. you may want to consider a ls-vtec or crv-vtec. if your new to honda then let me tell you that the options are near limitless. with all the different engines and interchangable parts between engine series its all up to preference. do some research, look at other's setups to get a feel for your options. and good luck with your new project.
what if I were to add a 75 shot of N2O along with the b16(add in cams, exhaust, intake, msd ignition, intake manifold, short throw, etc). the car will be running with no sterio no passenger seat, no spare tire, etc.
