Aftermarket Headlight Housing swap.
Hey guys I was interested in changing out my 6th gen (98) accord v6's headlight housing.
I've read the good, the bad, and the ugly about doing this and I wanted some input on where the best place to get the headlights from are, and whether this is a job that you need some experiance on or a newbie can do in about an hour or two.
Here is what i was lookin at changing too.

I've heard theres problems with headlights not fitting correctly, having a crappy projection from your oem lamps, and problems with the unit being flush...
Thanks for your input guys.

first thing first, beside they look different from stock, i don't have any reason for getting it.
why that you ask?
um..
1)they leak and you'll have a vapor filled headlight that looks like an ****.
2)light output sucks because of the FAKE projector and they are very likely to be using h4 blub
3)they are just plain play out rice.
if you still want them, get them on ebay, it seems to be cheapest there.
installation require no special tool, just a flathead, phillp driver and socket wrench. and yes removal of front bumper is required.
you don;t just change the housing, you are looking at changing the whole thing

So there are no options for changing the headlights? One of mine is kinda sandblasted/chipped and I want to replace them, preferably with something more interesting.
And why is it so hard for them to manufacturer a decent set of headlights?
Next question is how do they make tail lights that dont have those problems?

These I would recommend, if you are bent on installing aftermarket Headlamp Capsules. They are the ONLY one's I know which are DOT Compliant.

Department of Transportation, Society of Automotive Engineers (I believe society) it means they're street legal and aren't god awful. Which is what you need if you want to avoid getting a ticket.

In effect they meet strict standards as far as lamp performance, beam dispersal (pattern), a clean defined cut-off and lack of glare. They incorporate proper condensation control and use the proper gauge wiring for their intended use.

I got alteza lights for the rear and WOW do they **** me off. 2 out of 4 get water in them any time it rains, if you do get them i would suggest getting silicon or something and making sure they are sealed good.
Just take the "glass" or front lens off, and mask off what you don't want painted, then spray paint them flat black. Check out first of JDM black housings first to see where exactly they are black. I didn't want to spend $300-400 on some used headlights so I painted my stock ones to look like the SiRs.
Here's what mine look like........

They operate just as fine as they did prior to painting and they have been mistaken for the authentic JDMs. However, I really want to get the JDM SiR headlights just to get the H4 bulbs......
