not getting any love anywhere else... help on exhaust breather system vs open??
Ok i have searched first of all and read Dasher's PVC posts. unfortunately it doesnt seem to finish his research. his conclusion was that his exhaust evacuation setup wasnt a closed system during his testing (or so he thought) and so it wasnt pulling enough vacuum.
I do know the H22 pushes loads more exhaust pressure, and breather pressure than an B/D series engine. obviously the H22 really has a lack of a proper breather/PVC system from the factory. Also on all-motor drag cars seem to run the exhaust evacuation setup on their cars.
so the question remains which one is better? if it gives me 2 WHP over an open breather i would spend the time to do it personally. A HP earned is a HP kept....
Also if u run the exhaust evacuation system would it be a good idea to make it a closed system?? The H22 even at idle pushes loads of pressure out the pvc and the breather. i would think the exhaust doesnt pull enough vacuum to keep up especially at idle/part to mid throttle settings... so if its a closed system wouldnt it get to a point that it would create positive pressure because of lack of way to escape??? but then again if u run an exhaust evacuation setup with a breather element on the catch can wouldnt that defeat the purpose and have u loose the ability to pull vacuum out of the crank case?
this is a NA H22 runing a 50 shot.
