side mirror glass replacement
I wanted to know how hard it would be to remove just the mirror glass on a side mirror for a 96 accord. I want to replace it on my driver's side because of some scratches, and I found a site that sells just the mirror glass for a power window. Any instructions would be welcome.
i believe you can just go to any auto parts store and buy a generic stick-on mirror for around $50. my passenger side mirror shattered when i accidentally hit it, so i went out and bought a self-adhesive one, and it fit perfectly. (yes, it's made of REAL glass). this is much more viable than ordering one from honda.

Don't know if this will help, but it's all I got. I took a toyota one apart before, was'nt too hard. Toyota would not sell me just the glass though, so I had to buy the whole damb thing. $210 what a rip. majestic honda sells just the mirror for like $22.

I believe it's available separately from Honda. Let me look.....
I would have to say no... based on the Honda Parts Catalog (below)

Any glass business (other than auto) should be able to cut a new piece of mirrored glass if you can supply them with a template. Use Clear Silicone Sealer to glue it back on (stays flexible even when cold)

i don't think honda sell it seperatly, it sucks.
the thing about going custom cut, the quality of the mirror is not where close to oe spec, it will scratch and break much easier and it's not tinted(i konw you can get a tinted one but good luck matching both mirror).

I can buy just the mirror from http://www.secureleadercom.com...block
for $32 shipped. If I knew how to just replace the mirror part it would save a whole lot of money. Plus, I would never buy a whole new mirror because that is a waste of money.

go to e-bay and buy a cheap honda oem knockoff mirror for 30-50 bucks. take out the glass and put it on.
If you put the whole mirror on, be sure to remove the glass and put some caulk behind it. The glass WILL shake when driving down the road.

Looks like you just use a screwdriver and cloth.

When i did it on my brother's 95, i believe i just used two flat head screwdrivers and gentlely poped it out. It's been awhile. Nothing hard though. Then the new glass should pop in with a bit of force but nothing too bad.
Ok, so I bought the new mirror glass and it installs easy enough, but I still have one question. There is a little pin called 96027 011 2 PIN, STOPPER on the diagram at http://www.hondaautomotivepart...IRROR
that I have no idea how to install. What happens is the two little side joints go in easy enough, but the middle joint is basically not being held down for anything. I know that the pin has to hold that piece but I have no idea how it's supposed to hold. Anyone have any ideas?

The trick is getting the old mirror glass off of the mounting plate. If you break the plate, you have to replace the whole mirror assembly to the tune of some major bucks. If you get the old mirror glass off clean, just apply a bead of silicone caulk and press the new glass on and leave set over night.
