15' Slips-205/50 hankooks-Blown shocks-Back tires squeak/rub/hit on bumps-Replaced shock-tires still
***GUYS i know these are a long 2 paragraphs on the bottom but i need you to read them to understand the story, please bare with me and help me out as best you can, thanks guys...
Aight guys, well, i had stock shocks on skunk2 lowering springs on my 95 hatch...shocks were blown bad, for a while, but while they were blown, i got a set of 15' slipstreams w/ 205/50/15 hankook ventus tires...
...whenever i would hit a big bump, often a pothole, or there was any big change in the level of the road suddenly, my back tires would make this screeching sort of noise, screech being basically the best word to describe but it seemed that the tires were hitting the wheel wells...now, this noise was never made back with my old wheels, ( 2 sets, flowers, and diff color slips, both in 195/55 tires) but common sense leads you to believe that because of the bigger tire size, theyre closer to the wells and obviously are more likely to hit on bumps than the 195s cause of size, but i pieced together that his hitting was also due in part to the fact that my shocks were blown to hell, that it had something to do with it...
...so naturally, i replaced my suspension (new gc coils and koni yellows)...lowered to about the same height as i was riding with the skunk2 springs (keep in mind , clean drop, about 2.25', not dumped, just lowered, about a finger 1/2 gap), and the tires STILL screetch, still hit...now, the front tires were never a problem, they never made that noise as far as i know, and did not rub either...it was just the rears, but it seems as if its the noises even more frequently now...obviously its not the new shocks so it cant be that...is it just that the tires are too damn big? no one i know has this problem tho, and especially on just 50's? someone mentioned to me it could be the offset of the rim? which im not too sure about...or could it be that my alignment is completely out of wack and causing the tires to be off to the side and thus hitting the wells aka i need a wheel alignment to fix the problem?
...i always thought a wheel alignment had more to do with the front wheels for some reason...was i right in that assumption, am i a complete moron, or is it just past my bedtime?...thanks for any help guys...

Severly bad bushings could allow enough suspention movement to whack the wells. Otherwise you have bad camber which is letting your tires rub the outside fender. I'd suggest looking at that, and using your hand to roll the metal lip farther up into the wheel well (at the very least).
Otherwise your exhaust is hanging low, and your suspention is tweaking it when it moves.

The first thing to establish is where the rubbing is happening. If it's really on the outside fender lip, you should be able to feel where the plastic welting inside the lip has been worn away. If you feel some wear there then you have several choices:
1) Roll the lip - do a search on how to do this
2) The offest on your wheels is not enough - go to higher offset wheels
3) Go to narrower tires
4) Raise the ride height of the car
But, the inside of the tire may be rubbing on the trailing arm. To check for the inside rub, jack the car up, remove the rear wheel and look at the lower trailing arm. If you see a spot on the arm about 10" from the hub that is shiny then you have inside rub. Your choices are:
1) The offest on your wheels is too much - go to lower offset wheels or get spacers
2) Go to narrower tires
3) Raise the ride height of the car
good luck,
alan

...Bump any1 else?...im also planning to go get a wheel alignment later today...ive heard that that will also help my problem, and probably help it big time...can any1 confirm? and offer any more advice? after further inspection, i dont think the out side part of the tires arehitting the inside of the fenders, because there seems to be no damage to the fenders...believe it or not i think actually the tire itself is bouncing all the way up on bad bumps, and the center of the tire is hitting the very top of the wheel wel...somehow its goin all the way up...
...i was drivin n heard a noise from my tire, but a weird one, almost like i ran over somethin but like it came off the tire, literally...so i checked, and it seems like a sliver of the rubber on the very middle of the tire has been sliced, penetrated, and came off, it was only on the surface, and not a flat, but i think thats from the tire hittin the top so many times? and thats what caused it? can any1 help PLEASE?
