Default First time at the track, SOHC turbo times, tips?

I have had my car together since March and I figured I should take it to the track now (end of october ) It was pretty cold and I was in street trim. This was my first run down the track EVER.

My setup:

The Motor
d16y7 with 110k miles. Stock motor.
d16z6 intake manifold.
z6/y8 transmisson.
exedy stage 1 clutch.

The Turbo Kit
T3 Super 60.
RC 450cc injectors.
Homemade turbo manifold, external Tial wastegate.
chipped obd1 ecu tuned with CromePRO for 11psi.

I weighed in at 2400 with me in the car.
I was on my street tires (dunlop sp9000's) and I didn't drop the tire pressure.
My twostep was at 3800.
FIRST RUN (my third run was the same EXACT #'s)
R/T .497
60' 2.203
330 6.119
1/8 9.124
MPH 83.20
1000 11.697
1/4 13.87
MPH 103.09

I was pretty suprised when I got my timeslip. For my first time I didn't think I did too bad. I think I could have set my two-step higher and got a better 60 foot. Just thought I'd share.

Another issue I had was when I would shift into second, my car would just jump to the redline. I would back off the gas a little and mash it again. Should I just keep it easy when I shift into second or does the technique I had work good?

good job!

modulate the gas as needed. 3/4 gas till you get traction.

nice times...better tires will help with traction obviously, but 3/4 gas is probably best for now. Looks like you picked up some good speed in the last 1/8 mile.

Pretty good for street tires. Very similar to my times. Get yourself some drag radials or slicks and practice.

Full throttle shift the 1-2 shift. Fast.
Your delay is making you spin worse.

My car is the same way. I lift throttle shift 2nd and I get smoke.
Full throttle and I barely chirp.

BTW that is one light car.
Wish mine was that light.

Dam good times even tho your spining all of 2nd gear. The same thing happend to me last night when I went to Englishtown and it was 30 degrees and 38 degrees on the track. I would come out the hole pretty good and soon as I shifted into 2nd the RPM's jumped right up redline. The next time I went I made sure to do a longer burn out keeping the tires warm and the next run was faster and no spinning.

What car did you have if you don't mind me asking? I had the black hatch with the group n's on it. A lot of people were hooking up good off the line but dying once they shifted into second.
