Most cars with more horsepower than the NSX don't accelerate any faster, because they're heavier.
There are a few exceptions: 911 Turbo, Viper, Ferrari, Vette Z06. That's not very many.

4.9 to 60 is not all that fast. The NSX is a nice car -- but for the money you pay the performance is definatly underwhelming.
Other cars that are quicker than the NSX (almost all of them considerably cheaper too) include:
Plain Jane Corvette C5
BMW M roadster.
BMW M coupe.
BMW M3
BMW M5
Buick GNX (and it did that back in 1986)
Corvette ZR1 (back in 1995)
Ferrari 355
Pontiac Formula Firehawk (back in 1990)
Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (any of the 97+ LS1's)
Plain Jane (non turbo) Porsche 911
Toyota Supra
Mitsubishi 3000GTVR4
Anyhow, the car is due for a much needed makeover. As it stands Honda either needs to make the car perform to it's price tag or lower the price to it's performance (40 grand?)

4.9 is quick. 12.8 is quick. The Corvette is probably the best example (even the Z06) that they could do it for less. A car magazine (I don't remember which) once drove the new Corvette at the time and a Ferrari. The Corvette was about as fast (maybe even a touch faster), handled the same and had similar breaking. The outcome? Is it worth 3 times the price for a car that does the same? Yes. It's not just performance you are getting, you also get craftsmanship, etc... but of course, that's just my opinion.
