Default Where to start?

Please excuse the 'newbie' type questions, but I usually don't come into this forum. Anyway, I think I want to start to Autocross with my GSR. Nothing serious like the SCCA, but something for fun. I don't know where to get started.

Are there any sites, guides, FAQs you guys can point me to?

Anything Michigan specific?

Thanks.

SCCA autocross is only 'serious' at the highest levels of competition - pro events, national tour, championships. For the most part, at a local level, the scca events are fun, laid back and most regions have a novice program. Check out http://www.detroit-scca.org/ for more info. If you have specific event questions, email Eric Penn @ canurel8@aol.com or approach him at an event - he drives a red Saturn SC2.

One of the first things I read was this web page:
http://www.tirerack.com/features/solo2/handbook.htm
Then I checked out the local region web page for further information but the most helpful web resource in know of is this competition fourm.

It's all fun. "Seriousness" varries from region to region. Don't worry about going out and being the slowest guy out there. I can name the top driver of an event but I can't come close to guessing the slowest because no one cares, It's all fun.

I remember my first day and I got through with the magic words "It's my first event".

I also setup a shorter help page: http://home.dejazzd.com/mlouie/autocross.html

And here is the regional schedules: http://www.scca.org/amateur/solo2/regional_sch.html
