this is my first car with a lsd it is a y1 cable and it could use a oil change. i was reading up on some oils and it said not to use just regular oil like i do in my teg with no lsd because it will loose some of it's effectiveness. so what are my options?

you can just use regular 10w40. and add some differential additive. you can get the stuff for $7 at napa.

 

I would run genuine honda oil!! Go to your local auto place and see if they sell Lucas for the transmission. I would add a little bit! Dont add the recommended amount just add a little to your oil. Some LSD require special oil but I dont think that it really matters. I have a JDM y1 and I use Honda Oil with a little bit of lucas to stabalize the oil. GOOD LUCK!

 

but does that mix of oil affect your lsd at all? or do you not notice if it does

whats the paste looking thing for? also do you just mix it with the oil while filling the tranny oil?

 

Regular motor oil 10w-40w+Lucas should be fine.

 

Use Amsoil in your prefered grade

i have always known about amsoil but i didnt know they made stuff for lsd's. if i buy the amsoil mtf does it come with the adative for the lsd?

 

I have a clutch type lsd. Be very careful of what kind of lsd you have. I got the lsd from a friend of mine and I just swaped in the entire differential not knowing if it was clutch type or helical. So I was running like 130 weight gear oil and the tranny was screaming. Well I finally broke 3 damn axles and then I figured out that I needed to run a additive. I've tried the GM additive and the Ford additive and they both work great with thick gear oil.
