when you put coilovers on. you have to take out the dust boot because its to big to fit in the coilovers. so is it bad not to have the dust boot on? i'm not talking bout full coilovers.
I can give you my opinion.
A dust boot will make your shocks last longer. But it really all depends on where you drive.
My advice, get one. It's cheap, it's not ugly (even tough you can't see it), and it doesn't hurts anything, if it does something, it will be to keep dust away from your shock seals.
Good luck

On my ITR I have Koni shocks and Ground Control adjustable springs. For the front I just cut the dust boots in half so they are shorter. For the rear I had to go without. Since I travel on muddy / gravely roads, I thought dirt could get between by shock and spring sleeve. So I cut a piece of motorcycle innertube about 3" high and zip tied it to the bumpstop and top of the spring sleeve to cover the opening on the sleeve. It might not be necessary for city driving tho.
