my gf preludes radiator hose blew about an hour ago...and she still drove it all the way home(4 miles)...when she finally reached me she called and said her car was smoking...so i go over and check it out and find that the upper radiator hose blew...so i changed it and refilled the coolant, but then notice the muffler is still blowing some white smoke and there is liquid in the muffler...i took the car out for a test drive and it still drives fine. why would it have liquid(coolant) coming out of the muffler? i know its smoking because its burning that stuff

 

it shouldnt smoke out the exhuast because of a blown hose, the issue is now something esle, headgasket, or overheated and warped the head-

 

yeah, you probably blew the hose, then leaked out all the coolant, overheated the engine and then cracked the headgasket. thats why your blowing white smoke.

 

Sounds like a blown engine but let's hope not

 

no its not blown...i switched out the hose and it still drives fine...drove it out of town and just came back...its giving me a check lite 23 though for some reason...i think that is knock sensor...anyone know why it would do this?

 

im not sure whats throwing your light but my friend had a lebaron, he overheated it blew the head gasket still ran fine but he threw a check engine light becuz of all the coolant hitting the o2 senser told him not to buy it , but i hope your right, a fast way to check for a head gasket leak is pull the dipstick and see if it smells like coolant

 

yeah...it wouldn't hurt to change your oil either...see if there's any coolant mixed in good luck

 

yea i changed it already...no coolent/oil mixtures
