You can either buy a kit or I know a lot of shade tree racers that use ought gauge. (0 ga) You can pick it up at most stereo shops.
I've seen it run through the firewall and through the inside of the car, and I've seen it run under the car mounted up out of the way and then run through a hole in the trunk. There are several ways you can do it, it all depends on how much you want to take apart. Also, don't forget the battery plate and tie downs.

How I would personally go about it is this:
Use some 16 ga wire and test run it just like you want to run your 0 ga, then measure how long the 16 ga is and go buy the real stuff.
Remember: You'll need connectors, battery box, tie downs, grounds, etc. Make sure you do some more research before you tackle this.
You've obviously never seen 0 gauge.... trust me, it's plenty big enough.

Ya 0 gauge is like the size of my thumb, and I ran mine along the passenger side of the car and mounted the battery box right behind the rear wheelwell, I used about 15 feet, I bought all the stuff at Advanced Auto Parts, for less than $60.
0 gauge wire:about $30
Battery Box:$15
Ground Cable:$2
Electrical tape:$2
Connector(bought this at Lowes):$2
Cleaning up the Engine bay and giving me some room to run I/C piping(soon): Priceless
