Just got a 96 accord! I have a few questions though..
I just picked up a 96 accord....had 80k miles on it and its mint
I work at a dealership, and we pulled it in on trade, so i got a good deal on it...about 4500-5k considering its mint. Old lady traded it in
But one question that the search didnt help with is that when i lock the doors, it kinda "checks" the doors a few times after......ive even heard it in the "late night forgot to put out garbage" runs lol........maybe once every 5 minutes or so
Now its not bad to where the battery is dead.....nothing near that at all....just wondered if it was normal
Only other questions is what normally goes wrong on these things? This is the newest car ive owned.....im mainly an EF guy, and my race car is an 86 hatch. So just wondering what to expect after i pass 100k miles or so.
Last thing, no one would have an extra honda badge for the rear trunklid would they? Ill paypal you right now......its the only thing my car is missing
Thanks in advance

You door lock problem is a very common one with 5th gen accords. It is caused by a bad lock actuator which is a pretty easy fix (there should be a how to archived). I would change the timing belt/water pump if that has not already been done. Looks like you got a good deal... congrats on getting an accord

Some of the common problems for these accords are,
CV Joints
Master/Slave cylinders
Heater **** acts weird (you have to remove the dash to fix it i think)
Heater and AC control ***** break
Ball joints
Im sure theres more but those were the ones i could think of off the top of my head.

when doing the timing belt check the upper left balance shaft seal. There was a recal because the seals were popping out and as you can guess ruining engines. Simple fix they put a litte sheet metal thing around the seal held on by like 2 screws. Just check that's its there. 80K miles for $4500 sound like a hell of a deal! I paid 4k + several hours of shampooing for mine, it was a smoker's car (with a nasty *** cat) and like 114k miles. That's the most significant thing I can think of, maybe change the fuel filter mine was pretty clogged when I bought it. Take the resonator off and clog it up with spray paint lids, that's what I did for a noticable improvement.
