Mechanical or electronic oil pressure guage????
looking to purchase a oil pressure guage. which is better-mechanical or electrical?? which brand is better or it does not matter??
Typical mechanical gauges have 270 degrees of needle sweep. Nice. But they also mean you have hot, pressurized oil being pumped from the engine into the gauge it self, and thus into the passenger compartment. I've personally never been comfortable with that.
Typical electrical gauges have 90 degrees of needle sweep. So it's only a small range of motion for 0-120 PSI of pressure. Almost not worth using.
Then there are the electronic gauges... 270 degrees of sweep and they use a remote mounted pressure transducer and send a resistance or digital signal to a processor in the gauge. All the precision of a mechanical, safety of an electric. $250 please.

Yea... expensive, but I would definatly go with electronic. I have seen many oil leaks from people running mechanical gauges into the cabin of the car.

just route the line right.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I used steel braided lines and havent had any problems at all..

Used a mechanical gauge since 2001... I use a copper hard line so that its looped on both ends so that vibration wont break it.
