does the position of the cam gears effect spark?
car is a 99 civic si. well, my car is not getting spark. the dizzy has been changed with a brand new out of the box one and plugs and wires are also new. i already checked wiring continuity and voltage according to helms from the dizzy to ecu and they checked out fine.
the car cranks, but, very slowly.
i looked at the cam gears and they are three teeth off from each other. will this effect my spark?
also, will my alternator prevent my car from not getting spark?

1. i would set the cam timing correctly and check to see if it starts. caus i have had my ls off by 1 tooth and it would still start but run like crap.
2. no your alternator wont cause you to get no spark but when a car cranks slowly that usually means your battery is bad. take it to pep boys, or any other parts store to get it shecked.

im going to re adjust the timing belt and cam gears. battery is reading 11.5v. used a new battery wih a 14v reading, still same problem. going to put in the spare alternator when i redo the timing belt and cam gears.
does the cam timing have any relation to controlling the spark?

did you try flipping the half-moon part on the dizzy around??? if you flipped the part of the dizzy that goes into the cam...your car will not start...i've done it before..just try to flip it around and see if that works..
I thought the EK+ civics had keyed distributors on them that wouldn't allow you to install the 180 degrees off. I kow what you're talking about though. Did it in a friend's EG on accident. Didn't know what the hell was wrong until he called his buddy back in the states. Learned something new that day.
Also, the slow cranking could be from a starter being on it's way out.
