i did a swap on my 97 prelude from auto to manual. my friend shop in san diego charge 1700 for labor and you buy all the parts. you need a shifter assembly, shift linkage, clutch pedal, brake pedal, manual tranny, manual ecu, and the gear selector from the auto tranny(to make the car think it still in PARK for the car to start) and manual tranny mount.

i did the swap last june on my 97 lude, as far as time it took me like 3 days doing all the work myself.

i did a write-up of this swap but i'm to lazzy to put it up, but check this one out http://www.mazmo.com/zameoj/swap.htm

ps. for the ecu u can do a conversion to manual using ur auto ecu .

I don't recall reading anything about using the gear selector from the auto tranny in all the research I have done.

Are you sure this is necessary?

yes you need it, unless you want to take time to wire up the wires so it always think the car is in park. i did a obd2 to obd1 conversion with a jdm h22a too and i didn't really want to wire up car to think it in park, so i took the gear selector on the auto tranny and just plug it in to the car existing auto tranny plug on the harness. it also a cool extra feature where u can disable ur car from starting and put it on D so no one can steal ur car =D. i havn't wire up the reverse switch yet on the car. it a pain in the *** to do it. if you do the wiring on the reverse switch on the car let me know how u did it.

No, you don't need it...all you need to do is remove the TCM and do a conversion on your ECU (this can be done by relocating a chip).

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by vietdragontekx &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i havn't wire up the reverse switch yet on the car. it a pain in the *** to do it. if you do the wiring on the reverse switch on the car let me know how u did it.</TD></TR></TABLE>

As for the reverse lights, you locate the A/T Gear Position Switch (it's a gray harness right above the tranny). Connect the WHT wire (from the A/T GPS) to the YEL wire (from the tranny) and the RED wire (from the A/T GPS) to the GRN wire (from the tranny).

exactly! if you left your stock auto gauge cluster, your green "R" will light up.

does the white back up light come on? You need an auto gauge to work, but either ECU will work.

All pedals, all hydrolic lines, clutch master, slave cylinder, shift plate, shift cables, shift cable brackets with clips, and shifter.

and here is a ebay auction with everything you need but the transmission. And I have a friend with a H22 non LSD tranny he is selling if your interested. I am in Wisconsin so pickup could be an option.

Correction* Connect the WHT wire (from the A/T GPS) to the YEL wire (from the tranny) and the RED/WHT wire (from the A/T GPS) to the GRN/BLK wire (from the tranny).

WHT = YEL
RED/WHT = GRN/BLK

if you have a 5th gen lude...some of the 4th gen parts are NOT interchangeable such as: shift cables, shifter assembly, transmission mount, half shaft, etc.

And you don't need a new ECU, you can do a conversion on your stock auto ECU (P5M), you can also use your auto gauge cluster.

Are you sure 4th gen 5spd swap won't work? I've talked to people and they've said it would.. proof?

I did my own manual swap...if you don't believe me...call HONDA and ask them if the 4th gen shifter assmbly is the same as the 5th gen, they will give you different part numbers. Trust me, i'll tell you what is interchangeable...and there aren't a lot of parts that are.
