Default Import Show on ESPN2

anybody see this from DRO?

ESPN2 TO SHOW IMPORT RACERS SERIES

Although drag racing diedhards over the age of 40 might not agree, modern hot rods are not just American muscle cars. The next generation considers sport compact cars or "tuner cars" to be the vehicle of choice. ESPN2 will debut a new 13-part series called "Import Racers" hosted by Sal Masekela, host of ESPN's X-Games. In each 30-minute episode Masekela (according to the official press release) will "live the tuner lifestyle from the street to the race track." Among the features will be an all-female drift team, an underground street race in Ensenada, Mexico, shifter kart racing, and import drag racing with Ali Afshar. Check your local listings for early November. The press release didn't include an airdate. [10-26-2005]

I dont know if its the same show your talking about, but i just saw 30min of car show coverage from an NHRA event on ESPN2 and it made me sick.
They flashed Extreme Import on the screen and they had some guy talkin to the owners of the cars, and NONE OF THEM WERE IMPORTS!!! These are the types of cars you will find in the "Rice Police" section of Over Rev Magazine!!! Mustangs with type r badges, and PT Crusers with body kits... WTF is the world coming to!
It just makes me sick how your average person flipping threw channels will get the wrong idea about our sport. No wonder why we dont get any respect!

edit: if the show your talking about is not the same one, i truly hope it doesnt represent us the wrong way...

Mike...

I know exactly what you guys are talking about. Made me get that I just threw up in my mouth feeling. Let's hope this new one is better then that. God forbid if we had anything longer then 30 minutes . . . oh wait no jump roping has to be on for an hour.

The show you guys are talking about from NHRA is the Sony XPlod Stylefest show. The show that Sal is hosting is something totally different. The new show should be pretty cool giving a different approach to racing/racers

The show is on Thrusday mornings at 2am EST. However I caught the show last night (Wednesday) at 10:30pm PST. Just set your DVRs to record it. I should be featured in the next espisode that airs so please watch! The schedule says that four episodes will be replayed on Nov 28th from 9:30pm to 11:30pm EST so if you miss the show you can catch up on it then.

It is definately a differnet type of show than what you have seen before. The show plans to explore all different aspects of the industry.
