Default JDM ITR Race Base model weight!

I weighed my car a few weeks ago and thought that everyone might be interested to know.

The car:
JDM RHD 98 Honda Integra Type R Factory Race Base model with full interior and spare. It came without ABS, PS, stereo and speakers from the factory, but I have a double din and front speakers now. It weighed 2400lbs almost spot on without me in it. Take out the stereo and would have been just under!

The race base model came without many more stuff than that !!

No power anything
No Interior plastic peaces
No horn
Only one seat that is the driver one
The dash comes only with the speedo cluster others are just holes in the dash
No fan blower , no vents in the dash , no A/C fan controler
+ alot of more that I am forgeting.

A long time ago I saw some pics on a JDM website and there was a link of some pics of the Integra Type R race base model . It was striped like a theft recovery , the interior was metal everywhere , even the roof it has no cover from the inside. from the outside it was like a normal ITR everything was there.

But yours is light too

I have a/c. If you look on the model description on Honda Japan's site it show in the list of satandard features that they came with pw/pl! http://translate.google.com/tr....html

However I did see that very thing for the DC5 race base. But never for the DC2!

Obviously the DC2 race base was not intended to be ready right off the bat to be a full fledge race car. It was sold at the dealers. However the DC5 race base from what I have heard was a special order item and was not able to be driven on the street in Japan like my DC2.

The DC2 Race Base ITR sold at approx. $23,000 in Japan in 98 according to Honda of Japan.

It says that the race base model never came with air conditioning, while it was optional on non-race base ITR's.

Doesn't mean that the owner of my car in Japan didn't have it put in at the dealer!

True but why would you buy a "race" model and then install ac in it? Does your car have the power steering hook-ups (ps rack)?

It was not offered on the race base model at all, according to Honda's website. I don't know why it's so important to you that your car is a "race base" model. If one wants to race an ITR, all the extra amenities will be removed anyway.

Does your car have a third brake light?

damn, my fully loaded JDM itr is lighter than 2400lbs. it weighs 2530 with me in it, and that's with a full tank of gas!

i weigh 150lbs.

that weight was taken with spare, tools, floormats, ac, stereo, ps, pw, pl everything.

Literally translated it says "Manual Air Conditioner" as opposed to Automatic Climate control. Like Reid said, the site indicates that this option is absent in the race version.

AFAIK the lightest DC2R that you could buy off the showroom floor in Japan should be 1080kg. That's 2376lbs.

Looks like that's the one you got?

Well for one it may not be a big deal to anyone there (Japan) but I think it is a piece of Honda history, and I am proud to have a rare car!

No there is not a third brake light and there never was one. (I didn't just post the link to the options on the car without reading it!)

No there is not privacy glass on the sides. Yes there is aftermarket tint on them! One of them had to be retinted cause it had bubbles!

No there is no "hook ups" for power steering. I have been professionally working on Hondas for almost 6 years, and I know what I am talking about. The rack in my car is a manual rack and No there is no wear where the ABS would have been (i.e. like it was removed)!

No I don't have power folds! And there is no wiring for it either.

There were speakers mounted to the cargo cover (aftermarket) but there was no signs of it EVER having speakers in the original locations!!!

You know I researched about my car for months before I knew for sure it was a race base!! I would not have posted it was like wise!!!!

Wow, you're quite fanatical. Nice to see others are still enthusiastic about the car, although you seem to be walking the thin line between devoted fan and obsessed fan. j/k

So now that you've acquired this ITR, what type of racing will you be doing with it? Honda Challenge H1 or H2 perhaps?

My 96spec with PS and AC and full electrics weighed in at 2513lbs...that included me (170lbs) and half a tank of gas, spare wheel, stereo/speakers etc etc...so your car aint no light weight.
