Default Reffed 00 si w/K series???

Has anybody out there reffed a k series in a 00 si in california(obviously)???

where i live you only have to smog once upon ownership transfer.but, you know that theres always the chance of out of town po po's.thanks in advance for any input.

i thought you couldnt bar a k motor because using the stock ecu threw a CEL all the time, and kpro isn't stock erquipment.

I remember reading people were working on duping the stock ecu's into not throwing the code. It was a no-effective code too, something that had nothing to do with the motor.

don't live in california so no idea about the bar but what if you unhooked the check engine light when you went to the ref??? then just hook it back up after?

no, they hook the ecu up to a reader, the ecu still holds the CE info. thus you fail. Even for smog in any state.

Plus they look to make sure the check engine light flashes when you turn the car on...you know, when all the rest of them do and eventually turn off.

thanks for the replys. i have been out of the scene for a few months.got a cbr 1000, got hit by a tweeker and bought another si.shouldve stuck with the cars.lol
