Winter and my GCs
Hopefully someone can lend some insight. Right now, I'm running 6" 400f/500r springs with Koni Yellows on my Civic. I don't want to be running this suspension in the winter.
I have my old Eibach Pro-Kits and the collar hardware that came with the Konis, and thinking about putting those back on. Problem is, that I had to sand the paint off the Konis to get the GC sleeves on, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to get them off (from corrosion).
So, I'm thinking of just swapping springs (which will also make track setup easier come next season). So what rates / lengths should I be looking at to get to stock-ish or Pro-Kit-ish? I'm thinking 7" so I can leave the collars in the same place on the sleeves, but at the low rates, I'm thinking they'd compress under the vehicles weight, and I don't want the car that low with such low rates (I'm thinking that could be very bad). So should I go 8", or would that raise the car too much?
I really want to leave the collars alone, because I have the alignment and other things marked on the components for easy track setup.

Is that price for each spring, or a pair of springs?

I have the Pro-Kits, so I would use those if anything. I don't want stocks really; just looking for an idea of where the springrates for these and the Pro-Kits are, and how long of a spring I should be looking into.
honestly you might as well just go back to the prokits for the winter. It's not going to take any more time to do. You'd want to raise the car back up if you go with a low rate ERS spring anyway since it'll be more likely to bottom out than the higher rate springs you're running.
Another advantage is that you can mark each GC/spring and just slap it back together after the winter w/o having to adjust the perches.

Perhaps you could use your Pro-Kit and pick up some stock shocks just for the winter? I know aftermarket springs + stock shocks = no no, but If you drive conservitavly in the winter (as I am assuming you would) I cannot see it doing that much harm. Then you would not have to seperate your Yollow/CG combo.

Are you asking for the springrates of the Pro-Kit? If so I just found a whole listing of assorted OEM and aftermarket springs and saved it on my comp at home (at work now). I can post it up when Im home if that is what you are asking.

I'd like to, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to get the GC sleeves off of the Konis, so I was just thinking of a backup plan (just in case).

I was thinking that's why I'd go with a longer spring, so I could leave it set without the risk of bottoming out. The thing I'm not sure of is how much a lower (~200) springrate would compress with the weight of the car. I'm thinking if I went with the 7", it'd probably sit at the same height as the car is now on 6", but I'm just not sure.

That's not a bad idea. The only thing is that if I got them used, they'd be about 5yrs old, and probably beyond their usable life, and new ones are pricey:
51605-S01-A01 SHOCK ABSORBER UNIT, FR. $90.96
That would be nice though, because then I could get the GC tophats for my track setup, and use the stocks for my winter setup and just swap them out as whole assemblies when the time comes... I think I'm going to look into this a bit more...
And yes, I was looking for springrate info, just to see where on scale I should be looking for rates...

Wow I didnt know they were that much! Yea it def is worth looking into more, someone might have a decent set of used shocks you just need to find them.
I am assuming you have an Si (cant really tell though from your avatar), so then regular 96-00 shocks wont work?

Yeah, I'm checking around. My car is an EX, although everyone always thinks it's an Si for some reason; but all 96-00 shocks are interchangable as far as I know.

I've seen some used stockers around here for sale. Honestly, unless they're blown or really worn out they'll probably be fine withe the Pro-kit springs. Although I blew a shock right after installing my Pro-kits, they had a bit over 80k miles on them. I've heard of people running on pro-kits with older stock shocks that hold up fine.
