Yesteday when I back up my car from my carport I notice my clutch was really soft and spongy, and the engagement point is like 1-1.5 inch from the floor. My clutch master cylinder reservoir is full, but the reservoir itself have some fluid around it. I think I need a new clucth master cylinder. Do I need to replace my clutch slave cylinder too? I just ordered my CMC from Len and did not order the CSC. I wonder if I can use honda civic CSC, are they interchangeble? I f so what is the part #?

 

I see by your sig you have a 1995 GSR, right?

Anyway, do you have any leaks in the system? Do you see fluid by the clutch pedal area where it's connected to the firewall? Have you bled the system? If you have no leaks, there's really no need to replace anything.

I havent check if I have any leak around clutch pedal, but I see fluid some fluid around the reservoir of CMC. Haven't bleed the system either, and why do I need to bleed the system I haven't touch anyhting in the car.

Bleeding it over some time is just routine maintenance. Your car is now 10 years old, almost 11. Where are you seeing the fluid exactly? Is it coming out of the top of the reservoir? Or is it coming out from somewhere it's not supposed to come out of?

 

Has it occurred to you that your clutch might be bad?

I had the same problems when my clutch was on its way out.

NO, its not coming out of the top of the reservoir but I can't tell where its coming from. All I can tell is the outside of my reservoir is oily, sign of something is leaking.

No, not at all. How can I tell if it is my clutch not the CMS and SMC?

 

sorry to jack this post but im having similar problems. air got in my clutch line and i had to top it off so i know i have a leak but i looked every where. im not finding where the fluid is going. im going to just bleed it and see how it goes but what could have caused this to happen if i cant find the leak?

 

 

oh and my csc and cmc and lines are showing no signs of leaks what else could have caused this?

Dude, you brought up a SIX year old thread!

Look some more. The clutch line snakes all the way around the engine bay. Pull the boot off that covers the slave where it touches the release fork and see if there's any fluid. Look under the dash board and see if there's any fluid dripping down, or any on the firewall near the shock tower. Look everywhere. If you're losing fluid it's going somewhere, not magically disappearing.

 

Sorry bout bringing this old thread ... Never looked at dates im just at a loss i know the fluid is going somewhere but its frustrating when i cant find it.... I will just keep topping it off till i find it and lay this thread to rest
