My 02 Accord I-4 with an Auto tranny has recently exhibited a concern. When trying to shift from D4 to P or D4 to R, the shifter sticks as if it doesn't want to shift. What is the potential issue?

Actually, I had this problem a few times with my Accord, but only intermittently. I think it has to do with the brakes or something. My problem was that I couldn't get it out of park into D4 sometimes. I learned that if I let off of the brake and moved around in my car to move it a little, then applied the brake again, I could normally get it to go in gear. One time I had to get out, push my car a little, and then get back in and that fixed it.

Strange problem.

 

to prevent this from happening use your e-brake when parking on hills
