Buying new car
I have been debating for a while wheter or not to buy a modded car. I have been talking to this guy I know, here is a link to his car

This car is heavily modded and he told me that If i want to buy it that I would have to spend a lot of money to maintain it. Can anyone give me some real life examples of heavily modded cars and what it takes to keep them running as daily drivers?

it seems like a clean car, plus u can't beat da price, but i dunno, i just wouldn't like buying a car that sum1 else has modded for me. cause u don't know how competent a builder, assmebler, driver, etc. they are.
NOOO
I know the guy personally. My best friends cousin. He took me for a ride and I liked it alot. Its like hes trying to protect me by telling me not to buy it cuz he thinks that I wont be able to keep up with maintaining it. How much will it cost generally to maintain a car as modded as this?

I really dont know. THis guy is straight as hell so I know hes not cheating me. I have seen the car so I know its everything he says it is. I really want to hear from someone who has a heavily modded car so I know what kind of problems he runs in to with just daily driving and how much they cost. Things like brakes, suspension parts, engine parts?

wouldnt u think so?</TD></TR></TABLE>
The motor is not the problem he says. He says that I will face problems with the suspension. Can anyone with a heavily modded car give me some insight on the situation. What problems do you face?

If he is such a nice guy, then why dont you ask him why you would need to maintain it? I could see if the suspension goes out you would spend alot to have it all replaced. But if its N/A then I wouldnt read to much into it. Might have to use expensive motor oil, brakes, etc etc.
For me most fun is modding the car myself and seeing your own work. This way you also know what is in the car etc.
Buying a car like that could be a good way a spending 8000 for a car that you do not know nothing about.... But if it will make you feel good get it! but then I am sure that most of the guys over here enjoy working on their cars as much as having them.
Everyone can own a car..... but not everyone can built it by themselfs..
Just my .02

the h22 is a little stressfull to the suspension slightly but it also has to do with the car is driven. If you like to accelerate hard and brake hard it will wear on the mounts and the suspension. but that goes for any motor in general. If the motor is properly mounted and there isnt alot of rocking it should not be to bad .
i think he means you'll run into axle issues. axles love to break on h22 hatchs, aftermarket and stocks. ask him what year, and model axles he's running and search, as far as suspension goes, get springs with high spring rates. search h22 hatchs and you'll find your answer.
